The Woodland Trust

The Woodland Trust is dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the UK’s native woodland.

Trees and forests are crucial to life. They stabilise the soil, generate oxygen, store carbon, play host to a spectacular variety of wildlife, provide us with raw materials and inspire our imaginations. They work through a combination of acquiring and then managing woodland and sites for planting and campaigning on matters of policy and good practice.

The Trust’s four key aims are:

• No further loss of ancient woodland.
• Improving the biodiversity of our woods.
• Increasing and restoring native woodland.
• Increasing people's awareness and enjoyment of woodland.

The more books you buy with GreenMetropolis.com the more trees the Woodland Trust can plant and conserve. GreenMetropolis.com actively supports this conservation by donating 5p for every book sold to the Woodland Trust's "Plant a Tree" scheme. Members also have the option of adding to this, by themselves donating some of their sale proceeds from the books they have sold.

Visit the Woodland Trust or their Shopping for the Environment Guide.

Alternatively if you wish to learn more about trees, play the "e-Tree" game and get inspired to plant your own woodland.
