This week marks the 50th Anniversary of Joseph Heller's satirical war novel Catch 22 so if you who didn't catch it the first time around we're making it our number one recommendation for your autumn reading.

Gruesome in parts, outrageously funny in others, it's certainly a hard book to define, but one you'll want to read and re-read again. A blackly comic indictment of the insanity and savagery of war and a must-read novel whose message is as relevant now as it was when it was first written.
