I finished reading this recently. I enjoyed it, but felt it could have been 150 pages shorter and just as good! I was more inerested in the contemporary story line rather than Eliza's story myself. Very interesting to learn about Latter Day Saints and their beliefs, but also the ways these beliefs were manipulated to justify having multiple wives. I finished the 19th wife over Easter and entirely agree with everything you say. Towards the end I skipped to the modern story because it was like a detective story and I wanted to know the outcome. I read the other pages later. I wonder what happened to her other son James. I also looked on a few websites about modern mormons and plural marriage.
