I'm really pleased to see this is on the list of books to read before you die. It really is an extraordinary novel - the story has stayed with me for a long time. Highly recommended

I too loved this book and have it for sale. I am on the 3 for 2 offer and try to sell most of my books at normal price or with a discount - I just want them to go to good homes!!

I finished this book last week and, after taking a little while to get into it, was very glad that I read through to the end. It centres on a handful of characters in the epic setting of siberia c1920. It's full of surprises, as threads pull together and apart, and there are a couple of seriously violent themes (but you can skip a paragraph or a page if you need to, without losing the narrative). Definitely worth a read if you didn't catch it when it was first published 2005/6.
