I'd never say to anyone 'dont read that', cos everyone's different, you may enjoy it. For me it wasnt a bad book, I just couldnt make my mind up cos I had read so many similar things.

I'd say take on board the comments given on the forum and then give the book a go. You will never know unless you read it!

ive given up on the birthing house due to snakes being mentioned and i have a phobia so didnt risk going any further, as for apartment 16 read 150 pages so far but I am not getting on well with the characters, not sure why so gone back to some crime titles instead for now.

Re:The Birthing House posted by Purple Peter

AWFUL!!!! It started well, then just degenerated into a pile of garbage. The author says he doesn't like to reasearch thesubjects in his books and I have to say that shows.
Interestingly I read that someone read one of hisother books and they thought it started off well, then went off.
To sum up, it went from sinister to silly.
theres a photo inside the cover thats actually more creepy than the book it's self

Oh dear, these comments are very mixed. It doesn't sound very promising. I think I may have to put this one to the bottom of my to read pile! There's nothing worse than getting to the end of a book and thinking it was a waste of time, especially when there are so many other books I could be reading and enjoying!

I read both his The Haunting Of James Hastings and The People Next Door. I much preferred the The People Next Door, THOJH was ok it had some good bits but most of the way through i was confused as to what the hell was going on. I haven't read the birthing house yet but i know a few people who have and they found the ending to be confusing!
