Elegance of the Hedgehog

Elegance of the Hedgehog
Muriel Barbery

This is such an excellent read, written by an intelligent & perceptive lady - Muriel Barbery is French and the book has been translated by Alison Anderson. It was my choice for our last book club meeting & very few people turned up - I actually heard someone say that they weren't going to read it because they didn't like the sound of it from the title! It has achieved popularity by word of mouth, topped the best seller lists in France & has been read world wide since then. Highly recommended - has humour, pathos, charm. Please read it. Am not selling my copy yet as have a list of people wanting to read it

Yes I loved this too, a clever book but not to dry. The main characters are wonderfully drawn.

I had heard amazing things about it and whilst I enjoyed it I found it quite disappointing. Not sure why really but it didn't move me as much as I expected. Love the title though. My copy is now winging its way to its new owner so hope they enjoy it.

I enjoyed this one, too.
